FAQ
What is Microneedling?
Microneedling, which is also called Collagen Induction Therapy (CIT), is a new approach to cosmetic medicine effective in improving the appearance of fine lines, acne scars, and the overall texture of the skin. In this procedure, controlled micro injuries to the skin are created using the pen in order to produce collagen and elastin. Furthermore, micro-needling helps create superficial micro-channels that allow topical gels, creams, and serums to penetrate deeper into the dermis to help improve the appearance of the skin.
What are the benefits?
Fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, acne scars, traumatic scars, and stretch marks can all be greatly reduced or improved by microneedling.
What areas can be treated?
All parts of the body can be treated with the pen, including the face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen, back, and hands.
How long does the procedure take?
The procedure takes 30-45 minutes depending on the size of the area treated.
What is the downtime?
You will notice a bright reddened appearance to the skin immediately after the treatment. Depending on the precision of the pen and the number of overlapping passes your skin care professional performs, the healing process will take a while. You may see redness for up to two days after the procedure.
When will I see results?
Skin glows immediately after treatment. Skin changes become apparent over a few days and weeks. The results of a treatment can continue to improve up to six months after the procedure as collagen continues to be produced.
How many treatments will I need?
For most patients, a series of four treatments spaced about four to six weeks apart is recommended. Those patients with deep wrinkles, advanced photoageing, stretch marks or acne scars should receive six to eight sessions at intervals of four to six weeks.
